Challenge
TANDBERG Ivigo approached Sceneware to develop an Internet video telephony SIP-based client for PC and MacOSX.

Solution
The solution developed by Sceneware can make and receive calls with UMTS video telephones, using the H.324m gateway developed by TANDBERG. It's currently being deployed, amongst many others, by KPN and KPN Hi in the Netherlands. We also built an ActiveX plugin that allows users to make 3G calls from a web browser.

Technology
To maximise video quality, the client deploys the same MPEG-4 and H.263 video encoder as SceneCast. Sound is improved with an active echo-canceler and dropped packets detection. We also developed a SIP communication layer, RTP transport layer, RTP packetizers and depacketizers, software update functionality and a skinnable GUI.
